Intro - Tests - De-Fishing - Conclusion
De-fishing gives you a super-wide angle, great for interiors.
Standing almost in the corner of our living room. I couldn't get
right in the corner because the TV was in the way!
See the bit of flare at the top right, presumably originating from the bright
light at the bottom left.
Fixed with Panorama tools and Paint Shop Pro.
We've swapped fisheye distortion for some heavy perspective distortion - look at the wall lamp on the right and the door on the left.
Panorama Tools is a set of free utilities produced by Helmut Dersch. You can get a download here: http://www.path.unimelb.edu.au/~dersch/
Once installed, it works as a plug-in for Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro,
but it's a bit tricky to use.
In the doorway to the dining room. This one's a bit soft - I think
I grabbed it at F3.5 with focus set to 2m (should have used a higher stop
and infinity)
One advantage (if you're a realtor) is it makes rooms look bigger!
Note how the ceiling lamp here has gone a funny shape. I think this is
because it's not in the centre of the original image.
De-fishing a close-up image can give you some really interesting effects...
